Vision

A successful and independent Corporation

Value through Innovation is the central concept of our corporate vision. Together with the corporate culture concept “Lead & Learn”, this is the driver of the corporate culture.

History

The pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim was founded in 1885 by Albert Boehringer (1861-1939) in Ingelheim am Rhein. From its beginnings in 1885 when it employed just 28 people in Nieder-Ingelheim, the company has since become a global enterprise.

As part of research and development activities for innovative drugs, the company focuses primarily on the therapeutic areas of cardiovascular disease, respiratory diseases, diseases of the central nervous system, metabolic diseases, virological diseases and oncology.

Diversity & Inclusion

We at Boehringer Ingelheim value and respect the differences of our people and nurture a diverse, collaborative and open company culture. For us ‘Diversity is the mix. Inclusion is making the mix work’. Therefore, we foster an inclusive environment which allows diversity to flourish. Valuing the diversity of thought and creating an inclusive culture is not only the right thing to do for our people, it’s the smart thing to do for our business.

Transparency

At Boehringer Ingelheim, we prioritize the establishment and maintenance of public trust. Transparency is therefore a key pillar of our corporate culture, as well as a vital principle in healthcare compliance.

Sustainability

In all our endeavours we safeguard our employees, facilities and the environment from harmful influences, conserve natural resources and promote environmental awareness.

Corporate Citizenship

We seek to foster economic and social well-being in the countries and communities in which we do business. Corporate citizenship is an integral part of our corporate culture.

Our activities, therefore, emanate from our operating units in the countries and embrace patients, neighbouring communities and society at large.
